Grosvenor & Hilbert Park NewsHere are the posts for January 2021 2020 News Date Published: Wed 20th Jan 2021 2020 - One of our quieter years!! Volunteers from the committee continued to work behind the scenes, answering emails, compiling the newsletter and updating social media, but Covid19 meant a lack of organised events, and as we enter 2021 we still seem unsure how this year will proceed. The park was incredibly well used, especially once Lockdown One was eased and people could meet friends for picnics. This did see an increase in litter - and in September we (FoGH) held a physically distanced litter pick, having had to cancel the annual Great British Spring Clean event. We managed to get our planters around the bowls green and playground re-planted in late autumn. Other events were online - including moth traps, Easter Egg pictures, and Heritage Open Days - which you can still see on the website home page, if you would like to learn more about the park history. Possibly last year more than any other we should be grateful to former benefactors - John Stone Wigg and E.J. Strange for donating Grosvenor, and then Hilbert to the town as green spaces. Without them, we possibly would have no park, and more housing.
