HLF Parks for People Project: Grosvenor and Hilbert Park
Date Published: Wed 30th Jan 2013
Work is continuing on the Heritage Lottery Fund bid proposal. Detailed surveys of the Park and buildings are being carried out. As well as topographical, hydrological and historical surveys, the views of park users and local people are very important in developing the proposals.
A questionnaire survey has been produced which will be distributed to a random sample of 2,500 household within 750 metres of the park. If you do not receive one through the letterbox, the survey is also being offered online and can be completed using this link.
The closing date is 18 February 2013. There is a prize draw for garden centre vouchers for all returned surveys (both postal and online).
Boundary Wall with Dorking Road
Date Published: Tue 29th Jan 2013
Work has started to repair this wall after concerns were raised last year and a survey indicated that action was needed. Some sections will need dismantling and rebuilding, but others will only need to have the top few courses removed. Where possible, the original old bricks will be re-used and where replacements are needed, they will be as close as possible to the original colour and size.
Access for the contractors is quite difficult: unfortunately, some disruption to the Park for 4 to 6 weeks is inevitable. A compound near the Auckland Road entrance has been created for the storage and delivery of materials and equipment.
The work is being managed by the TWBC Property Team, but questions can be addressed to Peter Every (Parks and Sports Team Leader) on 01892 554031 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
