Lottery Bid Update: Bad News
Author: Dave Barnett, Date Published: Fri 23rd Dec 2011

The results are in and the news is not good. On this occasion the bid to the Hertitage Lottery Fund (HLF) has failed.

Hovever all is not lost! The bid was viewed very positively but lost out to a rival bid from a park in Crawley and with limited funds available we end up in 2nd place but with no money in this round. We have been encouraged to re-bid in next years round of grant applications and work is in hand to ensure that any modifications to the bid are made in readiness for this.

So it's watch this space, FoGH will be doing all it can to support the bid.

Christmas Carols in the Park
Author: Dave Barnett, Date Published: Sun 11th Dec 2011

Sunday 1.30 pm. The mince pies are warming, the fruit juice is mulling, the Friends of Grosvenor & Hilbert Park are wondering who will turn up to their first real event. Carol singing led by the CREATE group.

But we needn't have worried by 2.00 we had enough people, including about 20 singers, to make this a great event. The Choir sang with gusto, the audience sang with trepidation, but with enough volume to attracta few passers-by. Then time to chat and meet a few new people with a cup of warming juice and a fresh mince pie.

Hopefully we are continuing to raise awareness of the group in the locality and we can now sit back and wait for Santa to bring us the present we all want for the Park; approval of the first stage of the Lottery Funding bid.
